Organisers consider Cape equestrian meeting a success

The Motus-Mitsubishi Cape Town Western Cape Lower Novice Dressage Championships 2020 took place at the Sarda Centre in Constantia the past weekend and the organisers deemed it a big success.

The Western Cape Equestrian Federation is hosting events again after receiving the green light for a return to play after a Covid-19-enforced absence from live events. The next one will be the Showing Championships on 21 and 22 Cecember at Stellenbosch District Riding Club.

Scharleen Ramsden, on behalf of the organisers of the past Saturday’s event, had the following to say afterwards: Wow – so many people to thank, I don’t know where to start! Firstly, thank you to all our sponsors – we really couldn’t have hosted this show without you!

To my fantastic judges, Heletta Marais, Debi van Wyk and Mandy Greeff – you ladies were amazing!

To my scribes – Sue Zoltner-Forbes, who was there all day, Carla Ekstrom, Eliana Scheibe, Chloe Longmore, and Karin McNally, thank you. Aside from the judges we could not run the show without your help.

To Natalie Spaltman, thank you for spending an entire day taking photos for our riders and indeed for the sponsors too!

To Andrew, who manned Prue’s caravan and Brennan Williams for the wonderful officials’ lunch. Thank you for keeping us fed and watered.

To Imran, Moses, and Tarryn Peters, who had the thankless job of sitting in the sun all day collecting Covid screening forms and taking temperatures, you guys were awesome!

To Victoria and Larissa Williams for being there and ensuring things were kept compliant. To Zak – as ever –  thank you for all you do and to Zak’s son Luciano for sitting there all day to open and close the gates so we don’t have to get in and out of the cars, thank you.

Finally, to my super-human team of Suzanne ‘Wright’ Holmes and Mia Scheibe – words are not enough – you guys were absolutely amazing and are the main reason I still have my sanity!

To the riders, thank you for entering and supporting our show. We had a fantastic turnout of 44 combinations today. I hope you all had a fabulous show and enjoyed the experience. We hope to see you at more shows next year!
