The Western Cape Darts Federation has made history after recording an unprecedented clean sweep at the 2026 Darts South Africa National Championships, held at the Bellville Velodrome from 11 to 18 July. In what is believed to be a first in South African darts, the Western Cape claimed every available team gold medal, reaffirming the province’s position as one of the country’s leading darts powerhouses.
Western Cape walked away with gold medals in the Senior Men’s, Senior Ladies’, Masters Men’s, Masters Ladies’, Youth Boys’ and Youth Girls’ divisions, completing a remarkable sweep across all team categories. The province’s dominance continued in the individual events, with the Western Cape producing both the Youth Girls’ Singles Champion and the Youth Boys’ Singles Champion. The Youth Girls’ Singles Champion also earned Protea colours and secured selection to represent South Africa at the upcoming World Cup in Egypt, while the Youth Boys’ Singles Champion also received Protea colours.
The outstanding performances resulted in further national recognition, with three senior ladies from the Western Cape being awarded Protea colours, one senior men’s player earning Protea colours, and two Masters men, together with a team manager, being selected to represent South Africa at the African Union Zone 5 Championships.
The remarkable success is a reflection of the dedication and commitment shown by the federation’s players, coaches, officials and administrators. The continued growth and success of darts in the province has been spearheaded by Western Cape Darts Federation President Azzraf Isaacs, whose leadership has helped build a strong and sustainable structure that continues to produce champions across all divisions and age groups.
The championships were endorsed by the Western Cape Provincial Sport Confederation and were attended by the Confederation’s President, Mr JP Naude, who joined in recognising the significance of the occasion and the outstanding achievements of the Western Cape Darts Federation. The Confederation acknowledged the federation’s commitment to athlete development, sound administration and the continued growth of darts as a recognised sporting code in the Western Cape.
To win every team category at a South African National Championship is an extraordinary accomplishment and one that many within the darts community believe may never be repeated. The 2026 National Championships will be remembered as a defining moment for the Western Cape Darts Federation and one of the greatest provincial performances in South African darts history. The results are a clear indication that darts in the Western Cape is healthy, thriving and well positioned for continued success at both national and international level.
