The Mistverstand Dam Regatta on the Berg River saw spirited competition from Rondebosch, SACS, Bishops, PGRC, and several masters rowers, making it a memorable debut for our novice crew. The event featured a challenging head race with distances of 5.4 km for seniors, 3 km for juniors, and 1.5 km for novices, followed by 500m sprints across all age groups.
Despite their inexperience, our novice girls showed remarkable progress. Just weeks ago, they were unfamiliar with basic rowing terms, but their rapid development was evident. From nervous, uncoordinated strokes to smooth, synchronized rowing, they’ve come a long way. The highlight of the weekend was their teamwork, racing alongside the senior girls and gaining invaluable experience.

The day ended with a community braai, where rowers, parents, and supporters celebrated together. For our novices, this regatta wasn’t just a race—it was a testament to what dedication and teamwork can achieve. We can’t wait to see what they accomplish next!
