EPWP Assistant Coach – Recreational Sport

Job Purpose

The Western Cape Provincial Sport Confederation (WCPSC), in partnership with the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS), seeks to appoint an EPWP Assistant Coach: Recreational Sport to support the delivery of Mass Participation, Opportunity and Access, Development and Growth (MOD) Programme activities. The successful candidate will assist with coaching, activity coordination, learner development and the promotion of recreation and sport participation within schools and communities.

Salary / Stipend: R3 187.00 per month

Minimum Requirements

  • Qualification relevant to the Key Performance Areas, or a minimum of 1 year’s appropriate operational experience in sport development relevant to the position.
  • Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years in line with EPWP requirements.

Key Performance Areas

  • Promote and foster the vision, mission, aims and purpose of the MOD Programme through awareness programmes.
  • Plan and coordinate MOD Centre activities for various age groups for a period of 40 hours per week.
  • Implement structured lesson plans daily.
  • Nurture, develop and progressively enhance learner skills.
  • Record programme data and statistics.
  • Submit MOD Centre administrative reports.
  • Account and report to the relevant MOD Centre Coach or Manager.

Competencies

  • Knowledge of the Mass Participation, Opportunity and Access, Development and Growth (MOD) Programme.
  • Good understanding of recreation-based activities, School Sport and Neighbourhood School activities.
  • Understanding of next-level participation opportunities in sport, arts and culture.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
  • Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet applications.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Good organisational and planning skills.
