Jan “Barries” Barnard, the current President of Western Cape Tug of War, was elected Vice President of Tug of War South Africa this past weekend. Barnard, a stalwart of tug of war in the Western Cape and Eden regions, has made significant contributions not only to the sport but also to broader sports leadership in the province. His leadership functions include being a previous member of the Western Cape Provincial Transformation Monitoring Commission.

Additionally, Ms. Reinet Barnard, the current President of Western Cape Sport Association for the Physically Disabled (WCSAPD), was elected to the South African Sport Association for the Physically Disabled and Visually Impaired (SASAPD) national executive. Ms. Barnard has been instrumental in elevating the sport to new heights, including the recent success of the Toyota South African Championships for the Physically Disabled held in Cape Town. Her tireless dedication to the sport and her athletes has made a lasting impact on the disabled sporting community.

The Western Cape Provincial Sport Confederation applauds both leaders for their remarkable achievements and their continued commitment to advancing sport in the Western Cape and South Africa.
