The Grand Masters Angling Tournament, exclusively for anglers aged 60 and older, took place in Struisbaai from 12 to 14 November 2024. A total of 69 seasoned anglers competed over the three-day event, showcasing their skill and experience in the art of fishing.
An impressive 1150 fish were caught during the tournament, weighing a combined 2711.29 kg. The non-edible category saw 11 different species (2601.63 kg) captured, with the largest being a 29.60 kg Spotted Ragged Tooth shark landed by Mike Smeda of Western Province B. Meanwhile, 5 edible species (109.66 kg) were caught, including the biggest cob of the tournament—a 18.83 kg specimen reeled in by Andre Mellet of Zululand.

The competition was tightly contested at both individual and team levels. Johan Reabow of Border A emerged as the individual champion with 95.18 points, followed closely by Mike Smeda of Western Province B with 92.81 points, and Colin Scheepers of Border A with 86.47 points.
