Western Cape Archery Breaks Ground with Inter-Provincials in Knysna

Western Cape Archery made history this past weekend on 5 October 2024, with the first-ever Inter-Provincial Archery competition between the Western Cape and Eastern Cape. The event, hosted in Knysna, was organised by the Western Cape Archery Federation (WECAF) under the leadership of President Karen Hultzer, in collaboration with Sheldon Van Onselen from the newly formed Eden Archery Club.

This landmark event saw archers from both provinces come together to compete in a friendly yet competitive atmosphere. With perfect weather conditions, archers had an incredible experience, and many Western Cape archers used the opportunity to work toward provincial colors qualification.

Hultzer and Van Onselen, together with the local organising team, are excited to continue setting up similar events in the future, building a strong foundation for the sport in the region. The competition highlighted the growth of archery in the Western Cape and the enthusiasm of archers to participate in such well-organized events.

The event was a resounding success, and the archers, spectators, and organisers look forward to more inter-provincial competitions in the future.
