The South African Air Rifle Association hosted its prestigious National Championships at the Bell Pistol Club in Bellville, Cape Town, on the 27th and 28th of September 2024. This exciting event saw participants from across the country competing in a variety of air rifle disciplines, with skilled shooters delivering impressive performances.
The 10-meter air rifle event, which required participants to shoot while standing, tested both focus and technique, making it one of the most challenging aspects of the competition.
The highlight of the event was the knockout stage, which featured the top eight shooters. These skilled marksmen competed fiercely in a head-to-head format, battling for the gold, silver, and bronze medals. The knockout rounds added intensity to the competition, as each shooter had to bring their best to secure a podium finish, showcasing incredible accuracy and composure under pressure.
This championship is endorsed by the Western Cape SASSCo structure, which administers all shooting sports in the Western Cape. Under the leadership of President Corena de Beer, the organisation has seen an amalgamation of shooting codes in the province and continues to grow from strength to strength, with an increasing number of shooting disciplines falling under its structure.
The Bell Pistol Club, in partnership with the South African Air Rifle Association, provided an excellent platform for shooters to excel. Events like these continue to promote the growth and development of shooting sports across the Western Cape.
