Chess tournament planned in support of CANSA West Coast

Western Cape Chess will be hosting an Online Heritage Fundraising Tournament in support of CANSA West Coast. The online tournament will have a guaranteed prize fund of R5 000 sponsored by Club Mykonos and takes place on September 24.

All proceeds of this event will be donated to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA), West Coast region.

Western Cape Chess is proud to be associated with CANSA as they are doing a sterling job in supporting families that are affected by cancer. As a Federation we decided that we will do a charity

event in support of cancer patients.

Cancer affects most of us in society and most of us had a family member that had been affected by the illness. It is also during this time of COVID-19 that Western Cape Chess decided that we would like to support an NGO that supports people that are at the highest risk of being potentially affected by COVID-19.

Those at risk for major complications from COVID-19 include those who are older (particularly over age 70) and those with underlying health conditions such as chronic lung disease, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic kidney disease and cancer.

Western Cape Chess would like to call on all members of the society to support this worthy cause. All entry fees to the tournament will be donated to CANSA West Coast. Entrants are encouraged to pay more than their entry fee as a donation (this is not compulsory).

Members of the public that do not play chess can also join this initiative by making a small monetary donation by clicking on this link https://tiny.cc/WCCACANSA

For more information about the tournament and how to make donations please contact Ricardo Minnaar via Whatsapp or telephone at 081 546 2221.
