Boxing Action Thrills at Sugarjazz Boxing Club Tournament in Cape Town

The Joe Slovo Community in Milnerton was abuzz with excitement yesterday as the Sugarjazz Boxing Club hosted a major tournament, drawing participation from over 10 boxing clubs across the Cape Town region. Clubs such as UWC, CPUT, Inkenkwezi, Overberg, KBA, Kraaifontein, and the host club, Sugarjazz, were all in attendance, creating a dynamic and competitive atmosphere.

Boxers from various clubs were matched according to their age and weight categories, ensuring fair and evenly contested bouts throughout the day. The highlight of the event was the thrilling match between Alistar Boy (Red corner) and Siphamandla Damesi (Blue corner), which had the audience on the edge of their seats at the Joe Slovo Community Hall.

Sugarjazz Boxing Club, one of the few clubs in the region with its own boxing ring, continues to be a beacon of boxing development in the community. This tournament provided a valuable platform for local athletes to showcase their skills and gain experience, while fostering a sense of unity among Cape Town’s boxing community.

The event not only celebrated the sport but also highlighted the important role that clubs like Sugarjazz play in developing young talent and keeping the spirit of boxing alive in the Western Cape.
