Western Cape Bodybuilding Athletes Reach the International Stage

Western Cape Bodybuilding continues to grow from strength to strength, with several athletes from the province recently competing for South Africa on the international stage at the World Bodybuilding Championships in Spain and Saudi Arabia. Their participation marks an important milestone for bodybuilding in the province and highlights the steady development taking place within Western Cape Bodybuilding.

At the Ladies World Bodybuilding Championships in Spain, Bianca Sanders proudly competed for South Africa, showcasing the focus and commitment that carried her through the domestic qualification pathway.

In the men’s division, JC Duffey and Ace Swazi, both from the Western Cape, represented South Africa at the World Bodybuilding Championships held in Saudi Arabia. Their selection came after progressing through the provincial and national stages earlier in the year.

Also contributing on the global platform was Johan Venter, who served as the chief judge at the men’s World Championships. His appointment added strong Western Cape representation among the international officiating ranks.

This international involvement follows an important milestone last year, when Western Cape Bodybuilding formally joined the Western Cape Provincial Sport Confederation as the recognised SASCOC-aligned structure for bodybuilding in the province. This brought unity, recognition and clear governance to the sport.

The current season followed a structured pathway: athletes first competed at the provincial championships, then advanced to the national championships, and finally, those who qualified earned the right to represent South Africa at the world level.

As more athletes from the Western Cape reach international platforms, the progress reflects the commitment of coaches, officials and administrators working to elevate bodybuilding across the province.
