Southern Stings Netball Team up and running.

Minister Arnou Marais officially congratulated the team as part of the funding DCAS has made available to the team via the Western Cape Sports Confederation. Confederation President JP Naude spoke to the girls with a motivational theme, encouraging them to maintain their feet on the ground and never to forget those who came before them and helped them get to where they are today.

Furthermore Naude told the team that they have the full support of the confederation and will be following their progress eagerly. The confederation is happy to have a seat on the Stings board in the form of Confederation Secretary Amanda Stripp. Naude said, “We’re just as proud to have our Vice President Shella Lakalakala serving as team manager, this means we'll be very closely connected to the team."

The Stings team who competed in Division 2 last year were relentless. Not only were they undefeated as they became Division and Shield Champions, but they also won promotion to the first division of the tournament by thrashing the Eastern Aloes 52-40 in the promotion/relegation match.
