Cape Town played host to the 2019 Africa Netball Cup Tournament at the Bellville Velodrome from 18 – 22 October and the Proteas were duly crowned the champions after an unbeaten run.

It was with great sadness that we learnt of the passing of Mr. Goliath Munro, President of the Western Cape Provincial Sport Confederation. On behalf of the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Minister Anroux Marais expresses her deepest sympathy and condolences to his wife Muriel, family and the broader sport fraternity.

Federation appreciation dinner, massive success.

More than 40 Sport Federations were represented at the event hosted by radio personality Guy McDonald which also included an entertaining comedic set by rockstar comedian Dalin Oliver.

Sponsors, partners and a strong media contingency was also in attendance. Chill Beverages who are the official sponsor via the Bashews brand to the WCPSC as well as the Sport Federation TV show. Hisense, the official technical partner to the WCPSC and Sport Federation TV, were part of the stakeholders that were honoured on the night. Sport Federation TV, which is a dedicated television show to promoting the successes of its members, is an initiative that was birthed through effective and strategic planning of the current executive management.Dalin-and-Guy.jpg

Being the brainchild of the president of the WCPSC, JP Naude, the banquet dinner's objective was highlight the marvelous and amazing work that sport administrators are doing on ground-level. But more importantly the support of the spouses and partners of these administrators that enables them to continue promoting sport and changing lives in the Western Cape.

"We are extremely honoured and blessed to have such magnificent administrators," said Mr Naude. "The Western Cape Provincial Sport Confederation prides itself on the remarkable work of every individual involved in sport within the Province but also the spouses and partners that are left at home while these administrators are doing what needs to be done."

A message from SASCOC President, Gideon Sam and Western Cape MEC for Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs & Sport was played in the form pre-recorded video clips during Mr JP Naude's keynote address. Mr Sam highlightKobus-c.jpged and congratulated all constituents of the WCPSC for the tremendous effort and emphasis on promoting sport in the Western Cape. MEC Marais, likewise, applauded all administrators for the magnificent drive and enthusiasm that every federation and district sport council have.
