His mandate is to ensure that the commission acts and speaks on behalf of the athletes within the Westen Cape and sets up agencies to assist them. His commission is the voice of athletes, coaches, and administrators at High Performance level.

“The WCSPC aims to ensure good governance within sports. We want to render a service to the broader sporting community of the Western Cape from top to bottom,” he said.

“As Chair of the High Performance Commission, we aim to be effective and efficient. Ensuring the athletes get to the podium at any level.”

“We must consolidate our structures in order to pull together as a unit. Additionally, we must strive to ensure that our structures function optimally in order to service athletes, coaches, administrators sufficiently.”

Wayne is community man and cites the camaraderie he has built up over three decades in sport as his greatest sporting memories. His work within the Bonteheuwel community is testament to his dedication to making sport accessible at all levels.

Away from sport, Wayne enjoys spending time with family and socializing with friends. He is still an active football player within his local LFA.
