WCPSC Exco profile: Amanda Stripp
Amanda Stripp is the heartbeat of the WCPSC. As the Secretary of the Confederation, she is in charge of various administrative functions that ensure the effective organization of the WCPSC.
Amanda is a teacher by trade. As a student she participated in Swimming, Netball, and Athletics where she received Provincial colors for both SWD and Boland.

She is currently the Vice Chairperson of the Rainbow Athletics in the Eden District and sits on the Executive of the Softball Federation in Eden.

Her administrative skills were honed in SWD where she worked on the Athletic EXCO as well as the Vice Chairperson of the Eden Sports Council. She was the Chairperson of the Western Cape Women and Girls for Sport for 4 years before becoming the Secretary of the WCPSC in 2015.

“More than anything, I strive for the smooth running of the organization,” she said. “Any form of communication must be adhered to effectively. Whatever must be done, whatever correspondence needs attending to, I try to do that as quickly as possible. This can be anything from sending out agendas to reminding the President of important appointments.”

As a member of the MANCO, loyalty is most important to Amanda. “I believe that having loyalty not only to my fellow MANCO members, but also to the President, is most important,” she said. “One must be objective on all collective decisions and strive to build strong relationships with one another.”

Amanda remains optimistic about the growth of sport within the Western Cape and wants to see more WC Athletes in the High Performance program (WECSA) and ultimately more athletes in the Olympics.

When recounting her favorite sporting moment, her answer highlights her selfless manner and dedication to administration.

“When I received the Administrator of the Year Award for my work in SWD as well as the Eden Sports Council Life time achievement, that was very special to me,” she said.

Outside of Sport, Amanda enjoys spending time with her husband as well as travelling to Durban where they holiday by the seaside.
